THE OPRAH SMOOTHIE

THE OPRAH GREEN SMOOTHIE1.jpg

Here is my smoothie tribute to Oprah (and frankly to all the strong, passionate women out there!!).  I have been a fan of hers for as long as I can remember.  She is an incredible role model & a testament to what women can accomplish.  To me, she defines strength, beauty, power, grit & grace.  And I certainly know more than a few incredible women who also fit this bill!

THE OPRAH is all about truth and strength: strength of mind, strength of body, strength of spirit.  All of the ingredients are real, nothing artificial or overly processed, and each has a goal, a thoughtful purpose.  And this true beauty is generous & supportive, too — it will help you find and build your strength if you are willing to take on the challenge!

See below for recipe details, but here are the ingredients to GO FOR THE 'O':

SPINACH - to fortify the brain (leafy greens help to prevent cognitive decline)

MINT - vibrant, flavourful, super healthy & invigorating, plus Ms. Oprah typically grows it in her garden!

PINEAPPLE - vibrant and refreshing, plus it’s a great digestion & immune-booster

BANANA - potassium to keep the heart & muscles strong

AVOCADO - full of brain-strengthening oleic fatty acids

COLLAGEN peptides - for stronger muscles and joints, skin, & gut health

CHIA seeds - packed with mineral, antioxidants, fibre, healthy fats & protein for a healthy body, brain and digestive tract

Fresh GINGER - for a little feisty, spicy, peppery flare — plus its good for digestion!

MATCHA powder - relaxes the body and calms the mind while also boosting concentration and metabolism

Ground TURMERIC (and a pinch of black PEPPER to facilitate absorption) - a powerful natural medicine with benefits for the body and mind AND because it’s the “Golden” Globe ingredient!!

Raw HONEY to taste - for quick energy, gut health (it’s a prebiotic), and to adjust the sweetness so it works for us!

For one serving, blend together until smooth:

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (I like to use my Almond Cow to make homemade plant-based milk)

  • generous handful of fresh baby spinach

  • small handful of fresh mint (optional)

  • 1/2 to 1 cup frozen pineapple

  • 1/2 small frozen banana

  • 1/4 ripe or frozen avocado

  • 1 Tbsp Further Food collagen (nonvegan) or Nuzest Clean Lean vanilla or natural protein powder

  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds

  • 1/2 to 1 Tbsp fresh ginger, adjusted to taste (optional)

  • 1 tsp high-grade matcha powder (optional)

  • 1/8 tsp ground turmeric & a pinch of black pepper (optional)

  • raw honey (nonvegan), Lakanto monk fruit sweetener, or maple syrup, adjusted to taste (optional)
