Here is my smoothie tribute to Oprah (and frankly to all the strong, passionate women out there!!).  I have been a fan of hers for as long as I can remember.  She is an incredible role model & a testament to what women can accomplish.  To me, she defines strength, beauty, power, grit & grace.  And I certainly know more than a few incredible women who also fit this bill!

THE OPRAH is all about truth and strength: strength of mind, strength of body, strength of spirit.  All of the ingredients are real, nothing artificial or overly processed, and each has a goal, a thoughtful purpose.  And this true beauty is generous & supportive, too — it will help you find and build your strength if you are willing to take on the challenge!

See below for recipe details, but here are the ingredients to GO FOR THE 'O':

SPINACH - to fortify the brain (leafy greens help to prevent cognitive decline)

BANANA - potassium to keep the heart & muscles strong

PINEAPPLE - vibrant and refreshing + a great digestion & immune-booster

COLLAGEN peptides - for stronger muscles + joints + skin + gut

AVOCADO - with its brain-strengthening oleic fatty acids

CHIA seeds - packed with mineral, antioxidants, fibre, healthy fats & protein for a healthy body, brain and digestive tract!

MATCHA powder - relaxes the body and calms the mind while also boosting concentration and metabolism

Fresh GINGER and a pinch of black PEPPER - for a little feisty, spicy, peppery flare (and good for the gut, too)!!

Raw HONEY to taste - prebiotic for a healthy gut + quick energy + cuz we gotta adjust the sweetness so it works for us!

Ground TURMERIC - a powerful natural medicine with benefits for the body and mind AND its the  “Golden” Globe ingredient!!

For one serving, blend together until smooth:

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • generous handful of fresh spinach
  • small handful of fresh mint (optional)
  • 1/2 cup or more frozen pineapple
  • 1/2 small banana, frozen
  • 1/4 ripe avocado
  • 1 scoop/packet collagen peptides (see note below)
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 Tbsp fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1 tsp matcha powder
  • 1/8 tsp ground turmeric
  • pinch of black pepper
  • raw honey or maple syrup to sweeten as desired

*Note: I used one packet Crushed Tonic probiotic collagen.  Each packet contains 10g marine collagen, 1 billion units probiotics, and 1,000 mcg biotin.  For a vegan smoothie, omit and add 2 Tbsp shelled hemp seeds or 1/2 scoop clean protein powder.  Plain Greek yogurt (1/2 cup) also works well for a protein boost.
