One should not overlook the humble pear!  Pears are juicy and delicious, but they are also little nutrient-dense, fibre-rich, antioxidant-loaded powerhouses.

Pears contain beneficial phytochemicals including anti-inflammatory and anti-aging flavonoids and cancer-fighting polyphenols. 

Here pear pairs beautifully with dates and warm spices to make a smoothie fit for a diva! 

For 2 servings, blend together until smooth:

  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk

  • 1 to 2 ripe pears (use 2 for a more pronounced pear flavour)

  • 2 to 4 pitted Medjool dates (adjust to desired taste & sweetness)

  • 2 Tbsp almond butter

  • 2 Tbsp chia seeds or gluten-free flaxseed meal

  • 2 tsp gelatinized maca powder (optional)

  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground turmeric

  • pinch each of ground cardamom, nutmeg and black pepper

  • sweeten with dates alone or add pure stevia, maple syrup, or sweetener of choice as desired
