MANGO LASSI

Mango Lassi topped with bee pollen and grain-free granola.

Mango Lassi topped with bee pollen and grain-free granola.

A lassi is a popular Indian yogurt-based drink. My easy 3-ingredient mango version is thick and creamy with a tropical, tangy, sweet-tart taste.  It also happens to be loaded with vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, probiotics, fibre, protein, and healthy fats to nourish our bodies and minds for the day ahead!

This recipe works well with a higher-fat, unsweetened non-dairy or Greek yogurt. For a paleo-vegan lassi, try using my homemade probiotic coconut yogurt.

To boost the flavour and nutrition and/or make this a complete meal, I have suggested some optional add-ins below.

For 1 to 2 servings, blend until smooth:

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen mango

  • 1 cup plain Greek or coconut yogurt

  • 1/2 cup or more coconut water (here) or milk of choice, adjusted to desired consistency

Optional Add-ins Used Above:

  • Lakanto sugar-free monk fruit sweetener (here), raw honey (non-vegan), or sweetener of choice, adjusted to taste

  • 1/8 to 1/4 tsp ground turmeric plus a pinch of black pepper to facilitate absorption (antioxidants)

  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds (antioxidants, fibre and healthy fats)

  • pinch or two of ground cardamom (here) and/or cinnamon

  • toppings (sprinkled on just before serving): bee pollen (non-vegan), grain-free granola, or toppings of choice

Other Optional Add-ins:

  • 1 Tbsp Nuzest Clean Lean Just Natural protein powder (for a protein boost if using non-Greek, lower protein yogurt)

  • a few drops of pure peppermint extract or a few mint leaves for a fresh minty spin!
