This creamy green shake combines two of my favourite things — matcha and avocado. 

Matcha is made by grinding high quality nutrient-rich green tea leaves into a fine powder.  It is packed with anti-inflammatory, detoxifying, disease-fighting antioxidants.  Matcha is also used to induce a sense of calm while simultaneously boosting energy, concentration, memory and metabolism.  How great that something so tasty can help bring the zen AND promote healthy weight control!

Avocado is an incredibly nutritious (and delicious!) fruit.  It is loaded with healthy monounsaturated fat, fibre, vitamins and minerals including folate, vitamin K & potassium, and disease-fighting antioxidants.

Individuals looking to lose weight should not shy away from avocado.  The healthy fats and fibre turn off the body's hunger cues, stabilize blood sugar, and help you to feel full and satisfied.


For 1 serving, blend together until smooth:

  • 1+ cups unsweetened almond milk, adjusted to desired consistency (I like to use my Almond Cow to make homemade plant-based milk)

  • 2 standard ice cubes

  • 1/4 to 1/2 ripe or frozen avocado

  • generous handful of leafy greens (I like to use baby spinach or baby bok choy)

  • 1 scoop Nuzest Clean Lean vanilla or natural protein powder

  • 1/2 to 1 tsp matcha powder, adjusted to taste

  • 1/4 tsp chlorella powder (optional)

  • optional Lakanto monkfruit sweetener, pure stevia, or raw honey (nonvegan), adjusted to taste

  • optional toppings: raw cacao nibs, unsweetened desiccated coconut, a dusting of matcha or chlorella powder, or toppings of choice
