"ASK" FOR IT! SMOOTHIE

We love this vibrant & refreshing Apple, Spinach & Kale smoothie.  And it really is so yummy that my kids ASK me to make it again and again!

Apples rank as the second most commonly consumed fruit in the United States, following bananas.  Fortunately, there is a good reason for the old adage, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away".

The benefits of eating apples are numerous.  They are a good source of disease and cancer-fighting flavonoid antioxidants as well as soluble fibre.  Fibre helps to reduce cholesterol and promote gastrointestinal health.  Fibre also makes us feel full, which is very important for weight control.

For 2 servings, blend together until smooth:

  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk (I like to use my Almond Cow to make homemade plant-based milk)

  • 2 cups (packed) mixed baby spinach and kale

  • 1 apple, cored and diced

  • 1 cup frozen zucchini (steamed-then-frozen for better digestion)

  • 1 scoop Nuzest Clean Lean Smooth Vanilla or Just Natural vegan protein powder

  • 2 Tbsp almond butter

  • 1/2 tsp Giddy Yo chlorella or Plant Burst spirulina powder, adjusted to taste (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • Lakanto sugar-free monk fruit sweetener, pure stevia, maple syrup, raw honey (nonvegan), or sweetener of choice, adjusted to taste
