This latte uses a homemade spiced or "twisted" tahini paste. It is super simple to make and works well in a number of tasty and nutritious treats. In addition to soothing drinks, I love to use Twisted Tahini in smoothie bowls and oatmeal!
My chicklets are quite happy to tackle bold flavours. However, for those of you new to some of these super healthy but pungent spices, I would recommend starting with smaller amounts and building up.
Twisted Tahini Paste
1/4 cup natural (unhulled) tahini paste
1 tsp ground turmeric
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground cardamom
pinch of black pepper
Tahini & Turmeric Chai Latte
For one serving:
Steep one bag of organic black tea (caffeinated or decaffeinated) in 1/2 cup water.
Whisk in a couple Tbsp of Twisted Tahini paste.
Add 1/2 cup heated or frothed nondairy milk and stir to combine. Sweeten as desired.
Option to add adaptogen(s) of choice, such as 1/4 to 1/2 tsp Organika Health gelatinized maca and/or Four Sigmatic 10 mushroom blend.
Note: Instead of using water and frothed milk, you can also add the Twisted Tahini to warmed nondairy milk (with or without the tea) and blend it together for a nice silky consistency. For the 2 servings pictured, we added the entire amount of Twisted Tahini to 2 cups of heated cashew nut milk and blended it together in the Vitamix.
