This tropical Papaya & Pineapple smoothie goes lean and green with the addition of one of our favourite superfoods -- kale!

While many of us are familiar with the virtues of leafy greens, papaya should not be overlooked.  This sweet, floral fruit is a good source of fibre, vitamins, minerals, and powerful antioxidants including lycopene.  Papayas also contain an enzyme known as papain that helps to prevent constipation and promote gut health.

For 2 servings, blend together until smooth:

  • 1.5 cups unsweetened almond milk

  • 1 cup diced ripe papaya

  • 1 cup frozen pineapple

  • 2 handfuls fresh baby kale and/or spinach

  • raw honey (nonvegan) or pure stevia to sweeten as desired

For a more substantial snack or 'real meal deal', add 2 Tbsp chia seeds and your choice of unflavoured protein powder as directed.  Here we used one scoop Genuine Health fermented vegan protein and one scoop Vital Proteins collagen peptides.
