Yup, this delicious chocolatey hazelnut shake really does make me happy!!  And chia seeds, flaxseeds, cacao and maca powder bring some brain, mood, energy and libido-boosting magic to the party!   

Native to Peru, maca has a slightly earthy, butterscotch taste and is rich in vitamins and minerals.  Touted as the "Incan superfood", it has been used for millennia to increase energy, stamina and endurance.  Maca is also celebrated for its ability to boost libido and sexual function in both men and women.

For 2 servings, blend together until smooth:

  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/4 cup raw hazelnuts
  • 2 pitted medjool dates
  • 2 Tbsp almond butter
  • 2 Tbsp raw cocoa powder
  • 2 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 Tbsp gluten-free flaxseed meal
  • 2 tsp maca powder
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • pure stevia or agave to sweeten as desired

*Notes:  This shake is great with greens!  Try it with 2 handfuls of fresh baby spinach.

For a 'real meal deal', add 1 scoop of unflavoured or mocha protein powder (used here) or your choice of Greek yogurt and/or silken tofu.

Grown-ups can throw in some ice and a double shot espresso after the kids' shakes have been poured!
