For anyone with fond memories of Nutella but looking for a healthy alternative, this protein + healthy fat + superfood-boosted chocolate hazelnut smoothie is a true breakfast of champions!
For 2 servings, blend together until smooth:
- 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/4 cup raw hazelnuts, pre-soaked*
- 1/4 cup dry roasted unsalted peanuts, pre-soaked*
- 2 Tbsp raw cacao powder
- 2 pitted Medjool dates
- 2 Tbsp chia seeds
- 2 Tbsp shelled hemp seeds (gluten-free if needed)
- 2 tsp maca powder (optional)
- pure stevia, agave or lucuma powder to sweeten as desired
*Note: For better digestion, soak the hazelnuts and peanuts in salt water overnight. Rinse and drain before use.
