For anyone with fond memories of Nutella but looking for a healthy alternative, this protein + healthy fat + superfood-boosted chocolate hazelnut smoothie is a true breakfast of champions!

For 2 servings, blend together until smooth:

  • 1 to 2 cups unsweetened almond milk, adjusted to desired consistency (I like to use my Almond Cow to make homemade plant-based milk)

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1/4 cup roasted hazelnuts, pre-soaked*

  • 1/4 cup dry roasted unsalted peanuts, pre-soaked*

  • 2 Tbsp raw cacao powder

  • 2 pitted Medjool dates

  • 2 Tbsp chia seeds or shelled hemp hearts

  • 2 tsp maca powder (optional)

  • optional Lakanto monkfruit sweetener, pure stevia, or sweetener of choice, adjusted to taste

*Note:  For better digestion, soak the hazelnuts and peanuts in salt water overnight.  Rinse and drain before use.
