This thick, creamy chocolate pumpkin shake satisfies your desire for fall flavours and your chocolate craving!  Throw in some protein, healthy fats & amazing adaptogens like maca & ashwagandha, and you've got yourself some serious #healthyfoodporn!!

Pumpkin is a super tasty, versatile and nutrient-dense fall fruit.  One cup of pumpkin contains only 50 calories but delivers 3 grams of fibre, more potassium than a banana, and almost twice the recommended daily intake of vitamin A! Pumpkin is also rich in disease-fighting antioxidants that are believed to help delay the signs of aging and protect against cancer & heart disease.

The chocolate used in this recipe is actually raw cacao powder.  Cacao is the purest form of chocolate we can consume. It is incredibly rich in antioxidants and minerals including iron & magnesium.  Furthermore, it is a natural probiotic and source of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. This makes it a great choice to help keep the gut, body and brain happy & healthy!

For one serving, blend together until smooth:

  • 1/4 cup pure pumpkin purée

  • 1 cup steamed-then-frozen butternut squash

  • 1 cup canned organic coconut milk or coconut water (I used a combination)

  • 1 Tbsp raw cacao powder

  • 2 Tbsp collagen peptides (nonvegan) or Nuzest Clean Lean natural or vanilla protein powder (use code “DRTARA” for discount)

  • 1 tsp gelatinized maca powder (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp ashwagandha powder (optional)

  • 1/2 to 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice (adjust to taste)

  • optional pure stevia or maple syrup to sweeten as desired
