This smoothie bowl brings together blueberries, leafy greens and spirulina to make an amazing superfood-charged brekkie that will help to keep you beautiful, inside and out!
Spirulina is a freshwater blue-green algae rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. In fact, it is so nutrient-dense that it has been ranked among the healthiest foods on the planet.
Spirulina is a natural anti-microbial and detoxifying agent. More studies are needed, but consumption may help to rid the body of harmful heavy metals and fight against infections such as candidiasis. It has also been suggested that spirulina can increase energy, boost the immune system, reduce cholesterol and blood pressure and lower the risk of stroke and certain cancers.
For one serving, blend together until smooth:
- 1/2 cup probiotic coconut yogurt (or substitute Greek yogurt)
- 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/2 ripe banana
- 1/4 ripe avocado
- one handful of fresh spinach or kale
- 1 scoop your choice of unflavoured protein or collagen powder*
- 1 tsp spirulina powder*

*Notes: I used 1/2 scoop of Genuine Health unflavoured fermented vegan protein, 1/2 scoop of Bulletproof upgraded collagen, and Giddy YoYo Incan spirulina powder.
